Our Mission

The ArcGPHW, in partnership with individuals with cognitive, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and their families, friends, educators, medical providers and other interested parties, shall work to ensure that people with such disabilities receive the support and services they need, are accepted in their communities, and have maximum control over their own lives. The ArcGPHW exists for the following purposes:
  • To promote the general welfare of individuals with cognitive, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • To foster the development of programs on behalf of and for the benefit of individuals with cognitive, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • To encourage research related to cognitive, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • To advise and aid parents and family members of individuals with cognitive, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities with respect to the challenges faced by such individuals and their families, and to coordinate their efforts and activities.
  • To contribute to public understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with cognitive, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and their families.
  • To advance public policy, improve legislation and instigate positive governmental action for the benefit of individuals with cognitive, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and their families.
  • To cooperate with and stimulate public, private and religious agencies and professional organizations in furtherance of the Corporations purposes.
  • To associate with and support financially the State and National Arc organizations.
  • To serve locally as a clearinghouse for gathering and disseminating information regarding cognitive, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • To solicit and receive funds to advance the Corporations purposes.
  • To procure and/or provide housing and related services for individuals with cognitive, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and their families, including affordable housing for individuals with special needs who have substantial and sustained need for supportive services in order to successfully live independently.

Meeting

 

General Members Meetings

The annual membership meeting is held in April of each year. At this meeting we will vote on new board members, conduct annual business and we usually have a recognition dinner followed by a dance and raffle. See events for current location, date and time.

Special Meetings are held from time to time as the need arises to conduct important business.

GPHW Board of Directors Meetings are typically held the second Wednesday of the month. To request to attend please contact a board member.
