The Arc of GP/HW offers a number of additional service as outlined below. Please contact us for additional information about any of our services.
Adult Home Help Services
The person with a disability can receive money to hire a service provider to assist them with their daily needs. Some of the people you may hire as your service provide are friends, parents if you are over 18 years old, siblings, or you may choose to hire someone from an agency that can provide you with staffing assistance. We can give you information and refer you to an Arc employee who can assist you in applying for Adult Home Help Services though The Michigan Department of Human Services.

Food Stamps
We can refer you to an Arc employee who can assist you in applying for Food Stamps through the Michigan Department of Human Services.
Health Insurance
An advocate from a Wayne County Arc can assist with applying for Medicaid and/or other services available through the Michigan Department of Human Services such as Children’s Special Health Care. Contact us at our email address for a referral.
Help Grants
The Arc of GP/HW help grant is meant to help individuals and families with a developmental disability towards the cost of a piece of Equipment, Learning Program, Therapy, or Camp. Applicants must be active GP/HW Arc members who have been members for at least one year and are residents in or receive services in GP/HW membership area. Applications are available April 1 of each year and need to be post marked by May 15 of each year for consideration.
Recreation
We can help you locate fun things to do in your community. We sponsor dances, free movies, bowling party, and young adult club. Watch our “Upcoming Events” for details. Work Skills Development and Job Placement
The Arc of GP/HW will give you information and refer you to local organizations that offer work skill training, job coaching services, and job placement.
The Arc of GP/HW offers a Job Training Scholarship to defray the cost of training and other costs related to hiring a qualified individual with an intellectual and/or developmental disability. If you or your family member has successfully completed job training, has continued employment with this employer, and receives an equitable wage, your employer may be eligible for this scholarship. The employee needs to be an active GP/HW Arc member who has been a member for at least one year and is a resident in or receive services in GP/HW membership area.
